Like Deep Throat, Taboo broke down barriers and brought "smut films" into mainstream acceptance. A genuinely good story, solid acting and believable characters set Taboo apart. The emotional and moral struggle of the main character made the sex scenes hotter than the mechanical action that most adult movies had presented up until that time.
