“Roots” put the concept of a mini-series on the map in 1977. After its success television was overrun with other limited series – both fictional and non-fictional. Porn, always looking for new source material – responded with a blockbuster of its own. Playing off the success of Taboo and the fascination with incest, Taboo American Style was a four-part, well-written soap opera about a dysfunctional family. The father, played by Paul Thomas, was weak and a victim of his circumstances. Gloria Leonard nailed the role of the neurotic mother. Tom Byron, the son, was about the only normal one in the family, which was ruled by the manipulative Nina, played by Raven.
The characters and plot were believable enough to add extra sizzle to the sex scenes – most of which were pairings arranged by Nina for her own plans. After she makes sure that her father catches her mother with the neighbor, she comforts him with an amazing blow job in the tub while mom is in the next room. I have posted the entire scene here. Now that Nina has daddy, he won’t deny her anything and it is only a matter of time before she weaves the rest of her web.
